Summary

This article focuses on the three components of sustainable employee engagement. The article states that traditional methods of increasing employee engagement do not often work in the long term because employees become used to the perks and begin to expect more or better perks. According to the article, one way to improve employee engagement in the long term is to cultivate a culture that emphasizes employee empowerment, purpose, and growth. A second way is to utilize technology to connect people and information through recognition and feedback. Finally, the article suggests organizations should configure the physical working space to represent the organization’s goals and values.
